2009 MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE ALL-FANTASY TEAM

December 14th, 2009 by Daniel Freer

00732247_BYU_v_UCLAIt is safe to say, that, you can add another name to the long list of stellar QBs to come from Brigham Young University.

Joining such Cougar QB greats like Gifford Nielsen, Marc Wilson, Jim McMahon, Steve Young, Robbie Bosco, Ty Detmer, Steve Sarkisian, John Beck, et al…is current BYU signal-caller Max Hall, our 2009 Fantasy College Blitz – Mountain West Conference Fantasy Player of the Year.

Hall, senior from Mesa, AZ (Mountain View HS), repeats as our FCB – MWC Fantasy Player of the Year (2008 winner)…throwing for over 3200 yards and 28 TDs, and rushing for 2 more TDs (stats quoted through November 21st games).

Joining Hall on the 2009 MWC All-Fantasy Team are….Note:  All stats quoted are through November 21st games

—————————————————

QUARTERBACK

Max Hall – BYU: One of the highlights of Hall’s season…and career…was engineering the game-winning TD drive against Oklahoma in the 2009 season-opener

—————————————————-

RUNNING BACKS

Eddie Wide – Utah: The Ute RB ran for over 900 yards and 11 TDs…with 1 TD catch….and was a big factor in keeping Utah in the national polls for most of the season.

Harvey Unga – BYU: Not as big numbers as in previous seasons, but Unga still had 900 yards rushing and 10 total TDs….and still a threat any time he is on the field.

Joseph Turner – TCU: Part of the balanced Horned Frog offense that just made the MWC croak….rushing for nearly 700 yards and 11 TDs in 2009.

——————————————————-

RECEIVERS:

David Reed – Utah: Reed was integral part of a re-loaded Ute offense, with over 1000 yards receiving and 5 receiving TDs.

Jereme Brooks – Utah: Brooks managed to get in the end zone a little more than teammate Reed, with 7 total TDs (6 receiving, 1 rushing)…and nearly 600 yards from catches.

DeMarco Sampson – San Diego State: The Aztecs WR had over 800 yards and 8 TD receptions for an improved SDSU in 2009.

———————————————————-

KICKER

Erik Soderberg – Air Force: Led all MWC players in scoring during 2009 with 95 points.

DEFENSE

Air Force: Probably one of the biggest surprises among all the AirForceDefenseConference All-Fantasy teams, as TCU’s defense just seemed to clobber everyone during the season.  The Air Force defense (photo, right, thanks AF Times) had their moments of defensive brillance, too….and scored 5 TDs from turnovers.

Don’t worry….we have not forgotten the BCS Conferences….we start naming their All-Fantasy Teams in the next few days….as Daniel Freer continues with FCB’s Conference All-Fantasy Teams
