Because winning Fantasy Player of the Week once was not enough…
Michigan QB Denard Robinson is our Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week for a second time this season, winning the honor in Week One.
Robinson (photo, thanks Fanhouse.com), a sophomore from Deerfield Beach, FL (Deerfield Beach HS) threw for 277 yards and 3 TDs, while rushing for 217 yards and another 2 TDs in the Wolverines 42-35 win at Indiana. His last rushing TD in the closing seconds was the game-winner for Michigan in an offensive shootout with the Hoosiers.
For the first weekend of games in October, there is a notable decline in sure-fire, play-them-this-week fantasy QBs from previous weeks. Gone are the easy non-conference games for the high-octane programs. Now, the games get a little more tougher, and a little more meaningful, for the big-time programs.
There will be some exceptions this week….notably Kellen Moore (photo, thanks Scout.com) and his Boise State Broncos. Read the rest of this entry →
Replacing Florida’s legendary QB TimTebow looked like a daunting task for the Gators, whose offense has struggled at times during the 2010 season.
This past Saturday, the Gators may have found their Tebow replacement. Sort of.
Florida QB/RB/WR/Wildcat/Whatever, Trey Burton, is our Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week for Week Four.
In the Gators 48-13 win over Kentucky, Burton (photo, thanks AP/JohnRaoux), a true freshman from Vencie, FL (Venice HS), scored 6 TDs (5 rushing, 1 receiving) while operating mostly as the QB in the Wildcat formation. Burton rushed for 40 yards, passed for 42 yards, and had 37 receiving yards against the (pardon the pun) Wildcats.
As a Tampa Bay Rays fan, I am glad a former Number One draft pick for the New York Yankees did not pan out.
And, I am sure a lot of Oklahoma State fans feel similar…OK, maybe not because they are all Rays fans in Stillwater. I am betting it is for a different reason.
Whatever the reason, Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden (photo, thanksncaafootball.fanhouse.com) is our FantasyCollege Blitz Fantasy Player of The Week for Week Three.
So, the real reason why he is our Fantasy Player of the Week:
Weeden, a former professional baseball player who played his HS sports in Edmond, OK (Santa Fe HS), threw for 409 yards and 6 TDs in the Cowboys 65-28 roping of Tulsa on Saturday. Since starting his first game two weeks ago, Weeden has led the Cowboys to a 3-0 record, and the team is averaging 57 points per game.
In this week’s edition of From The Shotgun, it is time to honor one of the great fantasy QBs of our generation: Houston QB Case Keenum.
The senior QB had his college career cut short (barring a medical waiver should the NCAA grant one) in Houston’s 31-13 loss at UCLA this past weekend. Keenum (photo, thanks Scout.com) tore the ACL in his right knee while attempting to tackle a Bruins defender after an interception. Read the rest of this entry →
