Injury News: TE Gronkowski possibly out 1-4 weeks

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

Rob Gronkowski of ArizonaThe Arizona Daily Star is reporting that TE Rob Gronkowski is missing practice due to strep throat and the team is worried it may be a case of mononucleosis.

If that is the case, Gronkowski could miss the entire month of September, a schedule that looked like a great way for him and the Wildcats to get off to a fast start.

Other WRs will have to step up, keep an eye out for Delashaun Dean.

Big Ten News: Purdue backfield

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Jaycen Taylor looks like he might be out awhile with a knee injury.

If that is the case, adjust your Kory Sheets projections accordingly as Taylor took away 560 yards and 4 touchdowns from Sheets’ production last season.

Independents Preview

Big East Preview: West Virginia Mountaineers

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Noel Devine of West VirginiaIt is a new year in Morgantown with Rich Rodriguez finally leaving after saying he would not for the umpteenth time.

The team is now run by Bill Stewart who has the highest winning percentage of any coach in Mountaineer history a 1-0.

All kidding aside, nothing much is going to change in fantasy dreamland. In fact, it may even get better this year.

This place has always been a fantasy dreamland for rushing statistics and that will not change in 2008. In the past, the numbers have been split between Pat White, Steve Slaton, and Owen Schmidt. In 2007, Noel Devine (right, Icon SMI) was introduced to that mix which cut into Steve Slaton.

In 2008, both Schmidt and Slaton are gone leaving everything to White and Devine which makes both very attractive players this season – Devine moreso than White.

Big East Preview: Syracuse Orange

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Next to being a Florida International football fan, backing the Syracuse program has to be the toughest job in Division I football these days. At least FIU has an excuse as their program is younger than Greg Robinson’s tenure at Syracuse.
