Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

Because winning Fantasy Player of the Week once was not enough…

Michigan QB Denard Robinson is our Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week for a second time this season, winning the honor in Week One.

Robinson (photo, thanks Fanhouse.com), a sophomore from Deerfield Beach, FL (Deerfield Beach HS) threw for 277 yards and 3 TDs, while rushing for 217 yards and another 2 TDs in the Wolverines 42-35 win at Indiana.  His last rushing TD in the closing seconds was the game-winner for Michigan in an offensive shootout with the Hoosiers.

FANTASY PLAYER OF THE WEEK…Trey Burton, QB/RB/WR/Wildcat/Whatever, Florida

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Replacing Florida’s legendary QB Tim Tebow looked like a daunting task for the Gators, whose offense has struggled at times during the 2010 season.

This past Saturday, the Gators may have found their Tebow           replacement.  Sort of.

Florida QB/RB/WR/Wildcat/Whatever, Trey Burton, is our Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week for Week Four.

In the Gators 48-13 win over Kentucky, Burton (photo, thanks AP/John Raoux), a true freshman from Vencie, FL (Venice HS), scored 6 TDs (5 rushing, 1 receiving) while operating mostly as the QB in the Wildcat formation.  Burton rushed for 40 yards, passed for 42 yards, and had 37 receiving yards against the (pardon the pun) Wildcats.

FANTASY PLAYER OF THE WEEK…Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State, QB

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

As a Tampa Bay Rays fan, I am glad a former Number One draft pick for the New York Yankees did not pan out.

And, I am sure a lot of Oklahoma State fans feel similar…OK, maybe not because they are all Rays fans in Stillwater.  I am betting it is for a different reason.

Whatever the reason, Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden (photo, thanks ncaafootball.fanhouse.com) is our Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of The Week for Week Three.

So, the real reason why he is our Fantasy Player of the Week:

Weeden, a former professional baseball player who played his HS sports in Edmond, OK (Santa Fe HS), threw for 409 yards and 6 TDs in the Cowboys 65-28 roping of Tulsa on Saturday.   Since starting his first game two weeks ago, Weeden has led the  Cowboys to a 3-0 record, and the team is averaging 57 points per game.

FROM THE SHOTGUN…WEEK THREE QB START/SIT

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

In past seasons, I would have been very hesitant to advise starting Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick against a BCS-level program.  Nevada’s Pistol offense matches up well against its WAC foes, but, usually struggles against deeper teams from BCS-level conferences.  This season, the Wolf Pack appear to have its most athletic team since moving up to the WAC just a decade ago… Read the rest of this entry →

FCB FANTASY PLAYER OF THE WEEK…Denard Robinson, Michigan, QB

Monday, September 13th, 2010

The last time we checked, the Echoes and Touchdown Jesus were still trying to tackle our Fantasy Player of the Week.

Michigan QB Denard Robinson (photo, thanks MLive.com), our Week Two Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week, obliterated long-standing school, and, stadium records in the Wolverines 28-24 win at Notre Dame on Saturday.

Robinson, a sophormore from Deerfield Beach, FL (Deerfield Beach HS), ran and passed for a Michigan-record 502 total yards (258 rush, 244 pass), rushing for 2 TDs and throwing for another one.   One of Robinson’s two TD runs was a 87-yard jaunt that set a Notre Dame Stadium all-time record.
