2011 Senior Bowl Road Trip: South Wednesday Practice Wrap

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

I was eager to see what the South players would show me on Wednesday after previewing the North squad heading to Mobile.

Miami (FL) WR Leonard Hankerson dominated Senior Bowl practices Wednesday

Every year there is seems to be a player that just seems to be a man among boys and from what I saw today that player is Leonard Hankerson from Miami.

Hankerson ran great routes and used his long body to get position all day long against the defense.  He caught everything thrown to him and looked extremely smooth on the field.

The quarterbacks did not impress, but a couple running backs that got you to your fantasy college football title did – other observations from the Southside after the jump: Read the rest of this entry →

Senior Bowl 2011 Road Trip: North Wednesday Practice Wrap

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

QB Jake Locker - mobility skills, athletic skills, but does he have the NFL arm? (Icon SMI)

Your FCB Road Warriors ended up arriving to the North Practice a bit late (too much BBQ – ed.), so I was unable to see the individual drills, but I was able to catch the good stuff: 7 v 7 and 11 v 11 drills.

came into the practice with an idea of some things to watch for, mainly hitches and flaws that some prominent NFL Draft wannabes have carried over from their college careers into this bright spotlight of a casting call stage.

Notes by position after the jump. Read the rest of this entry →

2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl: Team North

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

College football season is over and the final two teams are determined that will be playing for the Super Bowl.  For many, the Super Bowl is a special day that would easily rank in the Top 5 “holidays”. However, I am neither a Packers fan nor a Steelers fan.  In fact, my favorite Pro team hasn’t been to the Super Bowl in so long that I could make an argument that the NFL Draft is my Super Bowl.  With all that said, Jeremy Shory and I will be make the short 10 hour drive to Mobile, AL for the Senior Bowl practices and game.  This will be the 4th time in the last 5 years that I will be attending and with the exception of Juaquin Iglesias, it is pretty amazing how the guys that shine at the Senior Bowl seem to be the same guys that make impacts in the NFL.  Whether you are a draft nut or looking for that next fantasy sleeper (i.e. LaGarrette Blount), you will want to check back to get updates on the events this week. 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl: Team South

Monday, January 24th, 2011

In contrast to last year, the 2011 Under Armour Senior Bowl is loaded with talent on the offensive side of the ball. Last year was headlined by departing “god to football” Tim Tebow, which brought more attention to that side of the ball then it deserved. This time, both the North and South rosters are so loaded with talent that it’ll be really interesting to see how the coaches scheme and develop some packages for certain future super stars. What’s impressive is that the defensive side of the ball is loaded with just as many big names as the offense, which should make for a superb football game on Saturday. Read the rest of this entry →
