CFB Expert League Report Week 3

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

EricDecker-1Game 1 Recap: CBS Sports (3-0) def. Fantasy College Blitz (2-1) 96.28-85.42

Best Player: The keys to this game were Eric Decker (pictured left, thanks Icon SMI) and McKay Jacobson.  The two wide receivers each performed up to their capabilities; albeit in losing efforts for their own teams in must win home games.  Jacobson has become a very solid option for Max Hall at BYU, while Decker continues to dominate opposing secondaries.

Disappointing Player: Tate Forcier laid an egg for FCB in week three and it coming against Eastern Michigan is very disappointing.  DeAndre Brown continues to be a huge let down for CBS and that performance came in a game in which Southern Miss put up 37 points in a win against Virginia.

Who to Watch for Week 4: The key for CBS going forward may be the health of Decker, who injured himself in the last drive against California.  Losing him would be a big blow to a 3-0 team.  For FCB, the injury to Michael Floyd is crushing.  He was enjoying a breakout 2009 and was dominant on the field.  Being lost for the year is a huge void in the WR spot for FCB.  Read the rest of this entry →

FCFI Expert League Week 2 Report

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Dion Lewis1

Another interesting week from the world of the Fantasy College Football Invitational.

Game 1 Recap: Fantasy College Blitz (2-0) def. U-Sports (0-2) 128.80 to 99.80

Best Player: Fantasy College Blitz was led by Pittsburgh back Dion Lewis (pictured left, thanks Icon SMI) who is doing his best LeSean McCoy impersonation with his 190 yard, 2 TD effort.  U-Sports remained in screaming distance only because of Tim Tebow, who got back on track with a 5-TD explosion.

Disappointing Player: Against a Houston defense that usually plays much like a piece of Swiss cheese, Kendall Hunter was slowed down- more on the reason in a second. As for U-Sports, a 21 yard effort out of MiQuale Lewis is embarrassing, including the fact he fumbled as well.

Who to Watch for Week 3: It will be interesting to see how FCB replaces Hunter who is doubtful for this weekend’s game against Rice.  Hunter on any Saturday can score 25 points, but if he is out of the lineup, Keith Toston is a solid waiver wire addition.  As for U-Sports, it will be interesting to see how motivated Urban Meyer is to run up the score against Tennessee considering the offseason war of words with Lane Kiffin.  If he decides to take it out on the Vols, Tebow may enjoy a 2nd straight 5-TD game. FCFI: Expert League Week 1 Report

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Game 1 Recap: Fantasy College Blitz (1-0) def. CFF Insider (0-1) 129.36 to 119.40

Best Player: The best player for the FCB group was clearly Michael Floyd (pictured left courtesy Icon SMI) of Notre Dame, who only caught 4 balls, but in doing so caught 3 touchdowns and racked up close to 190 yards.  For CFF Insider it was Taylor Potts, the new signal caller for Texas Tech, who despite throwing three picks, accounted for 4 scores.

Disappointing Player: Arrelious Benn was overrated by some entering the season, however no one could have predicted an injury during week one, which almost crushed FCB’s chances.  For CFF Insider the disappointment was Brooks Orbson, who could only muster two catches for Ball State against North Texas.

Who to Watch for Week Two: Kendall Hunter only got 9.80 points in week one against a tough Georgia defense.  Watch him double that, possibly in the first half as Oklahoma State plays Houston Saturday.  For CFF Insider watch out for Potts, who will go up against Rice.  Rice allowed Joe Webb to look like Tim Tebow in week one, so expect another massive night for Potts and the Red Raiders.
