Toby Gerhart2

RB Toby Gerhart (thanks Icon SMI)

  1. Ryan Williams VaTech at GaTech
  2. Jahvid Best Cal at UCLA
  3. Dion Lewis Pitt at Rutgers (needs to start scoring again)
  4. Jacquizz Rodgers Oreg St vs. Idle
  5. Darius Marshall Marsh at WVU (still capable of 15+ point week)
  6. Ryan Matthews Fres vs. SJSU
  7. Toby Gerhart Stanford at Arizona
  8. Mark Ingram Alabama vs. South Carolina

Stat of the Week: Seth Smith from New Mexico State is 4th in rushing attempts by a running back (QB Ricky Dobbs leads the nation as a QB).  Anyone who gets that many carries is going to break a 1000yards but with only 1 TD on the season who remains a spot starter at best. 1. PERMASTART
  2. Ryan Williams VaTech at Duke
  3. Jahvid Best Cal vs. USC (The last defense that has a chance of containing him)
  4. Dion Lewis Pitt at Louisville
  5. Jacquizz Rodgers Oreg ST at Ariz St

Fave plays for Week Four

  • Bryce Beall, Houston at UTEP – Beall is off to a slow start for a 1st round pick but at least he is healthy and playing.  Look for Beall to final play like a top pick when he faces a UTEP defense that ranks 118th against the run. Read the rest of this entry →

Power-I Week 4

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

AndreDixon-1U-Sports (a commissioner service) is a leader in Fantasy College Football and one of their features is called ‘Player Trends’.  This shows the Top 10 most added free agents and Top 10 most dropped players each week.  When you are talking about the thousands of teams that uses U-Sports, it is interesting to see which players are being given up on and which ones are getting a lot of love.  These are also very likely the same type of players available in your league or are players you are wondering if you should give up on.

Looking over the report reveals 5 running backs, 3 on the most added and 2 on the most dropped.  Let’s look at each one closer.

Andre Dixon – UConn: (pictured left, thanks Icon SMI) Dixon had a monster game last week against Baylor with 31 rushes for 149 yards and 3 TDs.  People want to assume that the Huskies want one back to emerge and give him 35+ touches a game, because that is what happened last year with Donald Brown.  However, historically the UConn coaches have split carries and with the talent that Dixon possesses it doesn’t surprise me to see his carries increase.  Read the rest of this entry →

Power I- Week 2

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

DionLewis2-1

Pittsburgh's RB Dion Lewis (thanks Icon SMI)

Two weeks are in the books and now we are beginning to see how the season is going to unfold with regards to the Running backs.  There have been some surprises, but that is common early in the season when teams are playing against glorified high school teams.  This is the time when it is important to start sifting through the data to see which of the early heroes are for real and who are pretending.

Likewise there are been several busts that we need to look at to see if they are waiver wire material or just need a little patience.

Let’s take a look at the Top 10 RBs after Week 2… Read the rest of this entry →
