Expert League: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

December 2nd, 2008 by John Huss

This title comes from a Philip K. Dick story that later was developed into the movie Blade Runner.  Like most movies, the film version lost some of the nuance of the original work.  Essentially, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep talks about a future where androids strive to become recognized as their own ethnic group.  It is not a love story where bounty hunter Harrison Ford falls for a fembot.

At the end of yet another fantasy college football season, many of us hope to see this game recognized as equal to the pro fantasy version.  That day grows near and our own Fantasy College Football Invitational helps to bring more notice to the college game.  Of course, our story should be titled Do Expert League Owners Dream of Fantasy Trophies?  The bounty hunters in this years league would answer with a resounding yes.  In what has become a FCFI tradition, we also get to crown a new champ in 2008.

To bring you up to speed,  we saw the semi-finals play out with CFFInsider bringing the fall of last year’s champ Rotowire.com.  On the other side of the brackets, CBSSportsline took down Athlon/PFS to advance to the final match.  The championship game was an epic battle as the margin of victory was only 5.5 points.  Or basically the difference between having Alabama’s D (21 pts) instead of Hawaii’s D (15 pts).  With that big game from the Bama D plus QB Colin Kaepernick adding additional firepower, CBSSportline takes the top spot in the expert league.

When Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep reaches its end, the hero Rick Deckard finds his electric sheep has been destroyed (in the future, it’s status to own a real animal while lesser folk walk around with electric versions in an attempt to keep up with the Joneses).   Rest assured, this fantasy championship can’t be destroyed or taken away.  Also, no one is going to walk around with an electric knockoff of this title.   The 2008 Fantasy College Football Invitational goes to CBSSportline and to them alone.  Congrats on a great victory and thanks to all our participants for another exciting season.
