FCB Week 6 Ballot for CBSSports.com Blogpoll Top 25
October 6th, 2009 by Vince Mullins
I am taking full advantage of my one-week hiatus to revamp my approach and my analysis of the Top 25 in college football. Thorough looks at the quality wins and bad losses identified some of my early biases and allowed for a truly holistic approach to the top teams. First the poll then the biases I found:

| 4 | Virginia Tech | |
| 5 | Miami (Florida) | |
| 6 | LSU | |
| 7 | Boise State | |
| 8 | Cincinnati | |
| 9 | Southern Cal | |
| 10 | Ohio State | |
| 11 | TCU | |
| 12 | Penn State | |
| 13 | Oklahoma State | |
| 14 | Kansas | |
| 15 | Auburn | |
| 16 | Oregon | |
| 17 | Missouri | |
| 18 | Brigham Young | |
| 19 | Iowa | |
| 20 | Nebraska | |
| 21 | South Florida | |
| 22 | Mississippi | |
| 23 | Georgia Tech | |
| 24 | South Carolina | |
| 25 | Michigan | |
Oregon: I dismissed them after the Boise fiasco (despite that being a “good loss”), now they have two good wins versus Utah and Cal. Stock up.
LSU: I was giving them too much credit for the SEC schedule and dismissed what seemed like a bad win at Washington. I moved them down, but the Tigers are clearly in the top tier of 6 ahed of the big matchup Saturday Night versus Florida.
VT: Ugly wins, but wins.
Auburn: I like the undefeated start, love the 4-dimensional Gus Malzahn offense ad have been rooting for Gene Chizik since he coached at UCF. The best win was this past weekend at Neyland Stadium, but I like the two good non-conference wins at home. The upcoming sked will be the test as they face LSU, Ole Miss and Arkansas before Halloween.
Iowa: Undefeated, yes. Own Penn State, yes. Soft wins on the home field, another yes.
In the Top 6, I am not ready to downgrade Texas just to move Alabama up. The BlogPoll illuminati vaulted the Crimson Tide to #1 in Week Four, and I understand the motive based on the very good win versus the Hokies to open the season. I am just not ready to demote the Gators even though they can’t stretch the field vertically, have beaten up on Sun Belt teams and may likely be missing The Tebow.
