We figured it would be a matter of time that the heir-apparent to Florida QB Tim Tebow would have a break-out game…
Um, wait, it wasn’t that Tebow heir-apparent…
Cameron Newton, (#2 runing with ball, photo, thanks AP/Butch Dili) the junior QB from Auburn, and, former backup to Tim Tebow while at Florida, wins the first Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week for the 2010 season
The Atlanta native (Westlake HS) threw for 186 yards and 3 TDs, while rushing for 174 yards and 2 TDs, in the Tigers 52-26 win over Arkansas State on Saturday.
Newton was rated by many analysts as the top JUCO transfer for the 2010 season after leading Blinn (Texas) College to the NJCCA Championship last season.
HONORABLE MENTION: Ducky (photo, thanks cheer.oregon.edu), the
Oregon Ducks mascot, was pretty busy during UO’s 72-0 win over New Mexico. After every score, Ducky does the number of push-ups that Oregon has scored up to that point of the game. After the Ducks put up the 72nd point, Ducky would finish with a combined total of 506 push-ups for the entire game. Who knew Ducks had such arm-strength!
