FROM THE SHOTGUN….Week Twelve QB Start/Sit
November 16th, 2009 by Daniel Freer
As the 2009 season winds down, and as most leagues should be finishing up this weekend (or the next)….this will be the last Start/Sit for the 2009 season
With most fantasy teams already done for 2009, this final Start/Sit will focus mainly on those QBs who are off this week…quite a few of the good ones….like Navy QB Ricky Dobbs (photo, thanks Scout.com)….are off this week as they prepare for their real-season final games.
First, there are a few QBs who you definitely should consider sitting this week, as they face greuling matchups
Note: If your QB is not listed here, more than likely he is a good play for this weekend.
Russell Wilson – North Carolina State (at Virginia Tech): Never easy to generate a lot of offense on Virginia Tech at Lane Stadium, even as the Hokies are in one of their rare lean years (lean, for them).
Diondre Borel – Utah State (at Boise State): Borel had a bad week against San Jose State, even as his Aggies overwhelmed San Jose State. Boise State’s defense is just too good at home vs WAC offenses, and it could be a long day for Borel against the Broncos.
Todd Reesing – Kansas (at Texas): Those hoping Reesing would regain some of the magic of the past two seasons against Texas may be dreaming a little too much. The Longhorns defense is one of the best in the nation….and tends to get overlooked because of all the Heisman talk about stellar UT QB Colt McCoy.

NOTABLES OFF THIS WEEK
Chris Todd – Auburn; Juice Williams – Illinois; Josh Nesbitt – Georgia Tech; Jake Locker – Washington; Tony Pike/Zach Collaros – Cincinnati; Ricky Dobbs – Navy; Tim Hiller – Western Michigan; Jarrett Brown – West Virginia; Matt Barkley – USC

INTERESTING TO NOTE
Except for Wisconsin and Illinois, this will be the last weekend for most Big Ten programs. If your league runs its playoffs into next week, and, you have a bunch of Big Ten players, you might want to inquire about picking up some players…if you are still alive in your playoffs into the following week.

MOVIE ALERT
Opening this weekend, The Blind Side…a football movie that looks very interesting. The film is based on the true story of former Ole Miss offensive lineman Michael Oher, an African-American teen who was homeless…but ends up getting adopted by a wealthy white family. Oher would later star in high school and at Ole Miss, and was a first round draft choice in this past NFL Draft.
I remember first hearing about the Oher story, in detail, while watching an interview of Oher and his family on Fox News Channel with Shepherd Smith this past Spring. A very compelling story, even with Smith…a very vocal Ole Miss alum (and the voice you hear on the Ole Miss advertisement during games the Rebels play on TV).
The Oher story is one that even non-Ole Miss fans can say Hotty Toddy to.
