FROM THE SHOTGUN…Week Six QB Prime-Time/Pine-Time
September 29th, 2008 by Daniel Freer
EL PASO – Live from that beautiful West Texas town, where I just witnessed UTEP slaughter the alma mater rather unmercifully.
Never saw a 64 yard FG, made, in person…well, until last night. That Jose Martinez (UTEP PK)…he sure can kick!
And, maybe your fantasy team can get some “kick” this upcoming week, as many programs get into the meat of their conference schedule. Some, like Oklahoma State QB Zac Robinson (pictured, thanks IconSMI), will get, at least, an easier matchup.
“YOU’LL BE TWO STEPPIN’” PRIME-TIME PLAYERS THIS WEEK:
ZAC ROBINSON – Oklahoma State (at Texas A&M): Too tempting not to play vs a weak Aggie team that struggled at home, again, to Army. You figure Dez Bryant is going to get some passes, even with the stable of RBs the Cowboys have.
CHASE DANIEL – Missouri and JOE GANZ – Nebraska: Daniel is a no-brainer, even for the brainless, while Ganz will try to keep up with the Mizzou scoring machine.
SHEA SMITH – Air Force and KAIPO-NOA KAHEAKU-ENHADA – Navy: You have options…and option QBs this week. Play these two especially if your league rewards rushing TDs more.
DAVID JOHNSON – Tulsa and CHASE CLEMENT – Rice: Oh this game is going to be fun…and first one to show any semblance of defense, wins!
OTHER PRIME-TIME THIS WEEK: GRAHAM HARRELL, Texas Tech; COLT McCOY, Texas; MAX HALL, BYU; WILLIE TUITAMA, Arizona; NATE DAVIS, Ball State; ADAM WEBER, Minnesota, SAM BRADFORD, Oklahoma.
THE “MIGHT DANCE THE LAST DANCE” MAYBE’S THIS WEEK:
TERRELLE PRYOR – Ohio State (vs Wisconsin): Figure this will be a close low-scoring game, and Pryor will not get as many touches.
JUICE WILLIAMS – Illinois (at Michigan): Big Ten road games are a little tougher than home…play Williams if you have no other favorable QB matchups.
THE “WALLFLOWER” PINE-TIME PLAYERS:
ROBERT GRIFFIN – Baylor (vs Oklahoma): This will be tough for the true-frosh, facing a talented Sooner defense. Griffin will get better match-ups later this season.
CHRIS NICKSON – Vanderbilt (vs Auburn): Auburn has an excellent defense, and even talented QBs like Nickson get their stats dropped facing the Tigers.
NOTABLES OFF THIS WEEK: C.J. BACHER, Northwestern; CASE KEENUM, Houston; CHASE HOLBROOK, New Mexico State; DAN LeFEVOUR, Central Michigan
