Funny story from Petros Papadakis about Ahmad Rashad

July 10th, 2009 by Vince Mullins

In Orlando we are new to the Petros and Money Show syndicated out of LA on Fox Sports Radio, but I have know about Petros for awhile based on a) his appearance on my 2001 fantasy team after 12 TDs on 15 carries in 2000 (or something like that, can’t confirm the stats) and b) his hyperactive style on Pac 10 broadcasts as color analyst.

Petros Papdakis

Petros Papdakis circa 1999 (thanks, USC)

So a caller talks about Petros’ Ahmad Rashad story being one of the funniest things he ever heard so it was repeated. Here it is from memory:

“So my dad owns a famous Greek restaurant in San Pedro and talks to everyone, introduces himself and me to everyone…big loud Greek voice. He is known more for the restaurant than his playing days at USC. So you have heard that Ahmad Rashad is a douchebag, here goes. Pops had the honor of  knocking out Bobby Moore not once but twice in his career (Moore was his English name when he played at Oregon), so my dad and I are out and see him. Dad of course yells out “HEY, BOBBY MOORE!” and Ahmad doesn’t even react, so of course dad belts it out again”HEY, BOBBY MOORE, remember me? This is my son Petros!” and Ahmad finally turns around and says firmly “Yes, but that is not my name anymore.” Dad doesn’t even pause and yells back “THAT WAS YOUR NAME WHEN I WAS KICKING YOUR ASS!”

Good stuff – I had to pull over I laughed so hard. And the picture below has nothing to do with Papdakis, just a little nugget I found when looking for links and pics for this post. USC Song Girl gone bad?

I think her name is Jess?
