Jeremy’s NFL Mock Draft

March 16th, 2010 by Jeremy Shory

St_Louis_Rams_logo.svgSt Louis Rams    Sam Bradford

Matt Stafford, meet the Detroit Lions. Oh wait, it’s 2010. Sam Bradford, meet an equally dire team without a QB who is going to throw you to the wolves.

Detroit Lions      Ndamukong Suh

A lot of people have Okung here. I feel that with the investment made in signing a free agent DE and trading for a DT, they almost have to go with either Suh or McCoy to make this thing work. Schwartz, a defensive coach, pulled the trigger on offense last year, now he does it his way and beefs up the D.

Tampa Bay Bucs                Gerald McCoy

Tampa really doesn’t have much of a choice here. This team is terrible. The only thing worse then this team as a whole, is their pass rush.

Washington Redskins    Russell Okung

A lot of people think that Washington will go with Jimmy Clausen here all because of that “new regime = new QB” crap. Well Shanny has already said that he really wants to see what Jason Campbell has got and besides, a rookie is probably not going to do a whole lot better then Campbell anyways. The problem with this team is not QB, it’s O line!

Kansas City Chiefs           Eric Berry

I’m not buying into this “Oh KC is going to address their O line because of Pioli and positional value, blah, blah, blah.” Berry is arguably the 2nd best player in this entire draft and he provides an immediate super upgrade at this position for this team.

Seattle Seahawks            Bryan Bulaga

Here we go with that “New Regime = New QB” garbage again. Pete Carroll is a smart guy and knows that he has Hasselbeck probably for 2 more years which means they can spend this season and next looking for a trade for someone with experience instead of having to groom.  Now that doesn’t mean they wont go Tebow with their 2nd round pick. They have a more pressing need on OL.

Cleveland Browns           Jason Pierre-Paul

Does anyone know what Cleveland is doing with all of the changes? The fact that they just traded Wimbley away for a draft pick really solidifies this pick for me. Watch the hype, however. I think this guy is a project.

Oakland Raiders               Bruce Campbell

Remember when Bruce Campbell was an actor who did cheesy B rated horror movies? Well why not take that guy and plug him in on the O line in Oakland? Oh this isn’t that Bruce Campbell?

Buffalo Bills                         Jimmy Clausen

Now we can get to the whole “New Regime = New QB” as Chan Gailey has way less to work with then the other two teams I mentioned that philosophy being a heap of garbage for. The Bills are in such bad shape on offense that even a rookie on offense is considered an upgrade.

Jacksonville Jaguars      Derrick Morgan

The Jags are put in a precarious spot where they can draft the best player available now that they have added a legit DE via free agency, however, that best player available just so happens to be a DE. Consider this insurance in case Kampman’s knee doesn’t heal or if Derrick Harvey really does continue the Florida Gator line of busted NFLers.

Denver Broncos                 Dez Bryant

Denver is going to end up parting with Brandon Marshall some how this offseason. There are just far too many suitors for this not to happen. Even if they don’t, Dez Bryant would be a solid pick for newly acquired Brady Quinn to start slinging it to as we know Marshall will just leave on his own terms next season.

Miami Dolphins                Dan Williams

Miami needs a new big man for the 3-4 more then anything else. Could this be the luckiest need pick this year?

San Francisco 49ers        Trent Williams

San Fran has been rumored to be looking a CB with this pick, but I think they take the gamble and help fix the O Line first as they know they have their second pick just a couple more away.

Seattle Seahawks                CJ Spiller

Carroll gets a stud playmaker here. A guy that can play the return game, be a change of pace back which this team hasn’t had in a long time, and also another guy that can catch the ball. He will be used just like Reggie Bush when Carroll coached him at U Suck Cal (USC).

New York Giants                Rolando McClain

Kind of surprising to see McClain fall all the way down to 15, but ILB just isn’t a need for many of the teams before them. This works as the G Men continue to try and figure out why all that talent sucked hard core last year.

Tennessee Titans             Sergio Kindle

Tennessee has no problem taking guys with sketchy character issues. Remember when Al Haynesworth was suspended for a season for stomping on a guys helmet? Yea, he was a Titan then. Either way, with Kyle VandenBosch gone, they need some DE help and they need it fast!

San Francisco 49ers         Joe Haden

With all the negativity of Joe Haden about his bad 40 time at the combine and possible limitations, I think enough teams shy away and falls about 5 spots further then he should, which makes that gamble San Fran took a couple picks earlier look all the better, now doesn’t it?

Pittsburgh Steelers          Mike Iupati

Pittsburgh gets a fine upgrade here on the interior O line. Iupati will be an immediate upgrade and will be played right off the bat.

Atlanta Falcons               Everson Griffen

Atlanta addressed their secondary issues via free agency. Now they address their QB pressure via the draft. Griffen will fill a need and should be a solid player for this team.

Houston Texans               Kyle Wilson

Now that Dunta Robinson is gone via free agency, the biggest need for this team if at CB. Wilson is the second best corner in this year’s draft. Makes sense.

Cincinnati Bengals          Taylor Mayes

Cincinnati just signed Roy Williams to an extension, but lets be honest, Mayes would come in and compete for playing time from the start and the Bengals have no one in the secondary close to this guy’s physical style.

New England Patriots    Brandon Graham

Graham has only seen his stock shoot through the roof since the senior bowl. I have seen some people have him as high as Seattle’s second pick and as low as New Orleans, but this is a perfect fit for him. He is a Belichek kind of player.

Green Bay Packers          Anthony Davis

Davis was supposed to be a top 10 pick, but his interviews during the combine have some scouts scared of character issues. This is a steal for him at this spot and provides some insurance for the next couple of years.

Philadelphia Eagles        Maurkice Pouncey

Perfect fit for a team that has a hole in the interior of their O Line.

Baltimore Ravens            Jermain Gresham

Looks for Baltimore to continue to add weapons on the offense while they watch their defense slip further and further into a geriatric bunch.

Arizona Cardinals            Jerry Hughes

As long as the Cards have been running the 3-4, they have been void of a true pass rushing OLB. Now they wont have to say that any more. Bam! Just like that.

Dallas Cowboys                  Earl Thomas

Dallas has been going back and forth with Gerald Sensabaugh on a contract extension. Thomas would make him expendable and would save the team a ton of money in the process.

San Diego Chargers         Ryan Mathews

I think the Chargers address their vacancy at RB right from the start and take a local prospect that the fans can get behind right from the start. He’s a bruiser.

New York Jets                   Jared Odrick

The Jets need help at defensive end, and Odrick would be a perfect fit in their base 3-4 scheme. He has the quickness, frame, long arms and toughness to push for immediate playing time.

Minnesota Vikings        Devin McCourty

I think the Vikes plan on having to revamp their secondary at some point between now and the end of next season, so why not start now? McCourty is fast and would fit in nicely on an indoor turf stadium.

Indianapolis Colts          Brian Price

The Colts need help in the trenches on both sides of the ball and the fact that Price would slip to them is a steal. He beats any remaining OL prospect hands down in this spot.

New Orleans Saints        Sean Weatherspoon

Why not? Everyone else has them taking him. With Fujita out of there, this guy becomes a lock at this pick.
