Stat of the Week: Sometimes all the stats in the world means little in Fantasy College Football.   Also, while Harris has had some decent games against cream-puffs like Northeastern (not Northwestern from the Big 10), Kent and FSU, when facing a real defense the one-dimensional Boston College– offense has struggled.  Harris had 132 yards 0 TDs for a 2.75 YPC against Clemson, Wake and VaTech, so any rationale fantasy player would bench Harris against NC St if they had a replacement that was healthy and playing.  Montel Harris ran for 264 yards and 5 TDs for 56 Fantasy Points against the Wolfpack.  Pure craziness, got to love this game…anything can happen on a weekly basis.

Fave plays for Week Four

  • Delone Carter, Syracuse vs Akron – Carter has been decent playing against weak defenses as he gets goal-line carries, so when the Syracuse offense is rocking– so is Carter.  This week against Akron the Orange should be able to put up 30+ points making Carter a lock for at least 1 TD and could easily have a 20+ Fantasy Points game.
  • Brynn Harvey, UCF at Rice – The Knights love to run the ball and when playing a team that can’t stop it, they will just pound away.  Look for Harvey to get 25+ carries with 100+ yards and a couple of scores as Rice comes in ranked 112th against the run.
  • Reggie Arnold, Ark St vs. FIU – Arnold has been pretty disappointing this year yardage wise but has scored 7 times to help owners somewhat.  This week he faces a team ranked 116th against the rush, given up 233 ypg.  This is as good of a matchup that you can ask for and expect to see Arnold to break the 100 yard mark for the first time since Week 1.
  • Rodney Stewart, Colorado at K-State – Stewart has been the workhorse the Buffaloes the last 4 games averaging almost 25 carries a game.  As he proved last week against Kansas, he is more than capable of putting up big stats against mediocre defenses.  The Wildcats have a respectable 26th ranked rush defense but they aren’t as good as that number indicates.  Stewart is good for 100yards and at least a score this week.
  • Doug Martin, Boise at Hawaii – Martin is the future face of the Boise State football team. In the meantime, he will share carries with Jeremy Avery.  However Martin should find plenty of space to run all over a Hawaii team that hasn’t been able to slow anyone down on the game.  Martin is good for 100+ yards and a few scores this week.
  • Noel Devine, WVU vs. UCONN – Devine has a resume to warrant being a perm-starter but his <20 carries and small built just always makes me skeptical.  With that said, it doesn’t mean I would bench him very often with the way he is running.  This week he gets the UCONN team, who is dealing with tragedy due to the stabbing death of Jasper Howard.  The run defense isn’t horrible but isn’t going to be able to contain Devine and the Mountaineers offense.

Super sleeper

Alfred Morris, FAU at UL-Lafayette – Morris has gotten 18+ carries in every game this season but haven’t had huge results mainly because of the opponents FAU has played.  This past week against North Texas saw his break-out game as he went 29-147-2.  Morris is a work-horse who once again will produce 20+ FP game against a run defense that ranks in the bottom quarter.

VICIOUS PINE

Harvey Unga, BYU vs. TCU – TCU boasts one of the best defenses in the country regardless of the conference.  BYU offensive line is not going to be able to control the line of scrimmage making it extremely tough for Unga to accumulate yards rushing.  He is good enough receiver to get some points there but not enough to warrant starting him.  Unga has put together some decent weeks of late but he needs to stay on your bench this week.

Anthony Dixon, Miss St vs. Florida – Dixon has been solid every game this season including a 100+ yards and 2 TD game against LSU.  However, unlike the LSU game, this one is not likely to be close enough to allow him 20+ carries.  I expect that the running yards are going to be tough to come by early and then the Bulldogs will have to throw the ball on most downs by halftime.

Add to watch list

From Last Week…Lance Dunbar from North Texas, Jacquise Terry from Kent St and Larry Caper from Michigan St.

Bobby Rainey from Western Kentucky – Rainey hasn’t done much on the season overall but has shown some life in the last few games with a 19 carry 115yards 1 TD game last week against UL-Lafayette.  With all Sun Belt opponents left on the schedule, Rainey is someone to watch.  This week he faces a Middle Tenn St team that should provide a nice test.
