Interesting thing happened at the weekly UCF media teleconference…

Instead of talking football with UCF head coach George O’Leary (pictured, thanks IconSMI), the sportswriters got…er…well…”propositioned”.

Seems that UCF gave out the wrong telephone number to the media.  The number they gave out was not for the teleconference, but, for a phone-sex line.

Just wonder, in between all the hot talk and heavy breathing…was there any insight on how UCF defeats South Florida this weekend?

CINCINNATI:

Ben Mauk will go back to court to challenge the NCAA’s decision (again) to deny Mauk another year of eligibility.  Earlier this summer, Mauk won an injunction against the NCAA, but the NCAA still denied his appeal. 

FLORIDA STATE:

Christian Ponder was named the starter for the Seminoles opener vs Western Carolina.  Ponder was named over long-time starter Drew Weatherford, who has performed erratically during his 3 seasons as starter.  It will be interesting to see how Ponder does, as FSU does have a good WR corps…if the QBs could just get the ball to them.

MARYLAND:

Chris Taylor was named the starter as Jordan Steffy will be out a few weeks due to a thumb injury.  Maryland beat FCS Delaware 14-7 last week…so just don’t rush out and grab the new Terp QB.

VIRGINIA TECH:

Looks like Tyrod Taylor will be back in the mix, as the Hokies will go back to a 2-QB rotation for this week’s game vs Furman.  Orignally to be red-shirted for 2008, the red-shirt was removed after Sean Glennon’s less-than-stellar performance in the loss to East Carolina last week.
