University of Southern Mississippi freshman wide receiver DeAndre Brown
New Orleans Bowl Preview-Middle Tennessee (9-3) vs. Southern Miss (7-5)
Game Info
December 20th, New Orleans
Game Background
For those people looking to watch a lesser known superstar, DeAndre Brown, the Southern Miss wideout, is one of the best in the game and is a sure fire fantasy pick. On the other side of the ball, MTSU’s all-everything Dwight Dasher is a true game breaker, who can win with both his legs and arm. This game has all the makings, with perfect weather in a dome, to be a shootout.
Southern Miss Player to Watch
While DeAndre Brown and Damion Fletcher get all the credit for the Eagles high flying attack, Martevious Young has been an amazing contributor since the season ending injury to Austin Davis. In only nine games as the starting QB, Young has thrown 13 touchdowns to only one interception, while adding close to 300 yards on the ground. For those in dynasty leagues, Young is a sure fire keeper to hold onto going into 2010.
Middle Tennessee State Player to Watch
For those that don’t watch Sun Belt football often, this will be a treat to check out Dasher, who threw for over 2,600 yards and 21 scores in 2009, while adding 953 yards rushing and 11 more TD’s on the ground. Because both offenses like to go up and down the field, Dasher should have the ability to make big plays all day.
What Will Happen
Start ‘em if you got ‘em. Every player should enter lineups in this defense optional matchup. Southern Miss has experience in this game and a little better supporting cast for their star QB. Eagles win a shootout 43-36.
