Saturday Morning College Football Breakfast (Free) Burrito, Week 9

October 31st, 2009 by Vince Mullins

Great matchups all day long – get your workouts in early as one could potentially stay on the couch all day for a docket like this:

  • 12:20p – Ole Miss at Auburn
  • 3:30p – Florida v. Georgia
  • 6p – give out Halloween candy (move couch to front porch)
  • 8pm – Texas at Oklahoma State and/or USC at Oregon

Let me wrap up this week’s fantasy college football analysis in the carrot-infused tortilla (to get the seasonal orange flavor).

First off, last weeks Top Ten Plays from our friends at AthletixNation:

on to the wrap-up…

WEATHER

40mph winds in the Northeast and a little less in the Midwest are possible, affectin UConn and Ohio State. Rain expected in Oregon all dang day.

Your complete Top 25 weather update from Weather.com.

HIP HOP CULTURE

Lane Kiffin offends many with his chatty tendencies, but rapper Lil Wayne now certifies the Vol coach’s street cred with a name drop. Jim Rome had a great rant on this Friday, reminding us that Jay-Z never repped Phil Fulmer and T-Pain has yet to give props to Urbs in the G-Ville. Time will tell.

ANALYSIS

Daniel Freer on Quarterbacks – his Monday analysis wants you to sit everyone in the USC-Oregon tilt, AND Dan LeFevour at BC? I have learned over the years to trust him implicitly, and when I don’t all he has to say is “I told you not to draft Sam Keller when he transferred to Nebraska” and I just can’t top that.

CFO Drew Smith on Running Backs – lots of stars idle, but reminds you of a rare free agent opportunity in Week 9 in Brandon Wegher of Iowa.

Vince Mullins on Wide Receivers – a horror show of injuries and outs this week, but there may be some fill ins for your roster from the Sun Belt. and as of now, Syracuse Mike Williams is playing against Cincy.

Paging Dr. Carroll! Triage Time deeply investigates the biggest injury stories of the week with some interesting observations on Ricky Dobbs and the Oregon State Rodgers brothers.

Over at CFFI, a look at the Texas Tech depth chart, and not just the WRs. Seth Doege (DAY-ghee) and Taylor Potts still not decided at QB. Alex suggest anyone with a gold helmet should have a big day in his Week 9 projections.

Over at the Book of Phil, Phil Steele like Ryan Lindley, Donald Buckram, Max Komar and the upset of the week is Colorado over Missouri.

RECIPE

Wait for the free burrito tonight at Chipotle, part of their Boo-rito special from 6-9pm tonight. I have found the barbocoa washes down well with a Dos Equis Dark. Stay thirsty my friends.

Enjoy the halloween festivities, and please rock the orange and black not just in support of the holiday but also for the Oklahoma State Cowboys tonight! Mullins out.
