Saturday Morning College Football Burrito, Week 11
Saturday, November 8th, 2008
or Week 10 on the Head2Head schedule.
As you read this I am flying to Denver for a little skiing and finish the week in Boulder for the Oklahoma State battle against the Colorado Buffaloes. Huss, Daniel and Drew will provide the steady hand as we all drive to the fantasy playoffs. Let us wrap up the week’s advice in a huevos rancheros burrito.
QB – Daniel sees your Lubbock game and raises you UTEP at UL-Lafayette for the stats.
RB – Drew battles through flu to guide you to some handy handcuffs.
WR – That Seji Ajirotutu sleeper pick was helpful, I hope you got on that play.
DEF – USC is just plain ridiculous in their stinginess as our #1 unit on the BlitzIndex. Also, check out Dr. Saturday’s deconstruction of the Trojan D against Cal.
H2H – Guest writer Topher Dean brings the knowledge of his efficiency rating.
GAME OF THE WEEK
Oklahoma State at Texas Tech – nice Rivals.com video breakdown here, Matt Doyle looks inside the Pokes huddle at the Tulsa World. This battle has the added flavor of being exciting to both fantasy and reality college football fans alike. I highlighted the disturbing trend of Dez Bryant not statting against top-flight competition, but his lack of stats were made up for from other less heralded receivers like Jeremy Broadway and Damian Davis. The nagging thought on my brain is that the defenses may be more important to the end game than most would think, I like the upset 38-31 in favor of the Cowboys.
Strange BCS scenario – let’s say that Alabama loses at LSU (not likely) and Penn State sputters against the stout Iowa Hawkeyes defense (more likely)…does that let the Cowboys jump to #1? Unlikely if Texas crushes Baylor, but even given that I think Pokes are likely to get to number two.
SHAMELESS PROMOTION
We have a weekly guest spot on ESPN Radio Las Vegas on Thursdays at 5PM ET, Drew representin’ and leads the Fantasy College Football Invitational, and I rest at fourth in the Heisman Pundit Fantasy Challenge. Next week we will propose to the Obama regime to consult on his plan to bring a playoff to college football.
