FROM THE SHOTGUN…WEEK TEN QB START/SIT

Monday, November 1st, 2010

Can you believe it…the fantasy regular season is just about over for all of your leagues!

Gosh…it seems like yesterday when we were just ruminating over our fantasy drafts.  That “fantasy bust” you picked first in your fantasy draft (or paid 9/10 of your auction salary cap on) looked like a sure-fire fantasy-star three months ago…before he tore his patellar tendon while stealing a big-screen TV from his agents’ girlfriends house.

However, for you all who selected wisely…the fruits of your smart labor will be rewarded this weekend, especially those who have Oklahoma QB Landry Jones. Read the rest of this entry →

FANTASY PLAYER OF THE WEEK…Taylor Martinez, QB, Nebraska

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

It must be Groundhog Day…because we seem to have a lot of repeat winners for our Player of the Week honors.

Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez (photo, thanks HuskerNation.com) is our Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week for Week Eight…his second win of our top weekly fantasy honor this season.

The freshman from Corona, CA (Centennial HS) threw for 323 yards and 5 TDs, while rushing for another 130 yards, in the Cornhuskers 51-41 win at Oklahoma State this past Saturday.

FANTASY PLAYER OF THE WEEK…Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State, QB

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

As a Tampa Bay Rays fan, I am glad a former Number One draft pick for the New York Yankees did not pan out.

And, I am sure a lot of Oklahoma State fans feel similar…OK, maybe not because they are all Rays fans in Stillwater.  I am betting it is for a different reason.

Whatever the reason, Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden (photo, thanks ncaafootball.fanhouse.com) is our Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of The Week for Week Three.

So, the real reason why he is our Fantasy Player of the Week:

Weeden, a former professional baseball player who played his HS sports in Edmond, OK (Santa Fe HS), threw for 409 yards and 6 TDs in the Cowboys 65-28 roping of Tulsa on Saturday.   Since starting his first game two weeks ago, Weeden has led the  Cowboys to a 3-0 record, and the team is averaging 57 points per game.

Saturday Morning College Football Breakfast Burrito…Week Seven

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

burritoWhile Vince Mullins is on assignment for Fantasy College Blitz, once again the “Steven Sheffield of burrito-making”, Daniel Freer, will prepare this morning’s burrito.   Although Daniel has improved his burrito-making skills…mind you, it is not the burrito made by Mullins and Company…but, he does put it out a little earlier…

Of course, the big game this week (all apologies to USC@Notre Dame) is the Red River Shootout at the Texas State Fair in Dallas (Cotton Bowl) between Texas and Oklahoma.   This game may not have the “awesome” factor it had earlier in the year….with Oklahoma having two, 1-point losses coming into the game….but it will still have a huge impact on the Big XII and National Championship race.
