Maybe he was playing with the Twelfth Man all game long….
Or…maybe he just needed ten men…
However which way he did it, Texas A&M QB Jerrod Johnson, our Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week, sicced Reveille all over UAB in the Aggies 56-19 win over the Blazers in College Station on Saturday night.
Johnson, a big (6ft 6in) junior from Humble, Texas, plowed all over UAB…throwing for 240 yards and 3 TDs, while rushing for 61 yards and another 3 rushing TDs…and overshadowed our FCB Fantasy Player of the Week for Week One, UAB Blazers QB Joe Webb.

Unfortunately, in football, injuries are common….
Sometimes too common.
This past Saturday, South Florida QB Matt Grothe was lost for the season as he tore the ACL in his left knee during the first half of the Bulls 59-0 win over Charleston Southern…thus ending the collegiate career of the possible four year starting QB.
Grothe led the Bulls to national prominence with his ability to run and pass, and, had the uncanny knack to make big plays when necessary. He was one of the top QBs in Big East during his career….including fantasy…and led the Bulls to three consecutive bowl games.
He also went 3-0 vs my alma-mater (UCF)…OK maybe that part was not so good, however, Grothe did earn my respect….and the Bulls program would not have come so far along, so soon, if it was not for Grothe.
Reportedly the Bulls will replace Grothe as starting QB with B.J. Daniels
And now, on to your Week 4 QB start/sit Read the rest of this entry →

His debut in week one was quite inauspicious…and a lot of other negative words that may not be suitable to print.
However, Oklahoma QB Landry Jones (photo, thanks, LATimes.com) has improved exponentially (hey, is that a good word?) since his struggles vs BYU in the Sooners opening game loss….after he was called on when 2008 Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford went down with a shoulder injury.
Improved enough, is Jones, to win the Fantasy College Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week for Week Three.
Jones, a redshirt-freshman from Artesia, NM, threw for 336 yards and 6 TDs in Oklahoma’s 45-0 win over Tulsa, the defending CUSA West Division champs.

Nothing like consistency….
That is what you get with Houston QB Case Keenum (photo, thanks Scout.com).
While other QBs make fantasy players, coaches, owners, prognosticators, et al…make one stupid with inconsistency, Keenum makes everyone look like a genius.
Keenum led Oklahoma State to a 45-35 win in Stillwater last weekend, while putting up some good offensive numbers. The Cougar QB stared down the toughest defense UH will face all season, and the defense blinked. The OSU defense was the same defense one week earlier that shut down Georgia.
As long as Keenum stays upright, the Houston offense is just going to roll over the rest of their competition in 2009…and I am including a meeting with Texas Tech next weekend.
And, I can safely say that….this week you should not play Keenum (What? You hypocrite!)
Calm down, now….Keenum and his fellow Houston Cougars have this week off. You can play him the next 9-12 weeks or so.
On to the rest of the QBs…. Read the rest of this entry →

Colin Kaepernick, University of Nevada, leading a victory over UNLV (courtesy ISM.com)
The WAC is blessed with prolific quarterbacks, mostly because it is not blessed with many prolific defenses. From a Heisman darkhorse (or two!) to a new starter with upside, here are the top five WAC fantasy quarterbacks for 2009.
1. Colin Kaepernick, Nevada
If you have not heard Kaepernick’s name, then you probably live West of the Mississippi and know him only as “that beanpole no one can tackle.” Kaepernick went for 3979 combined yards from scrimmage, 39 total TDs, and a WAC Player of the Year honor as a sophomore last season. He is the best fantasy player the WAC has to offer. He returns for his junior season with more experience, a renewed desire to shore up his only weakness (completing passes), and the near certainty of improving on last year’s numbers. With a non-conference slate that includes UNLV and Colorado State, and a conference slate featuring WAC teams, Kaepernick has the potential to go off in a big way in 2009.
