Big Ten Championship Preview: Michigan State (Legend) vs Wisconsin (Leader)

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Remember back to that classic finish – four seconds left before what appeared to be overtime and Kirk Cousins flung a 44 yard Hail Mary pass that looked like it was going to be knocked down only to land in the hands of Keith Nichol who then fought and got the ball to break the plane.  Amazing finish – Michigan State won 37 – 31.

Wisconsin went into a skid after that loss.  This time the Badgers will look to redeem themselves and win the Big Ten Championship by beating the team that has been a thorn in their side recently.

My favorite part of this is we get a rematch from that great game.  I was hoping for overtime back in October.  Finally I will get to see more of these two teams playing each other now.

The other part I love is that last year these teams shared the Big Ten Championship last year.  No sharing this year.  We have one more game to decide who gets the newest and most sought after trophy in the Big Ten, the Stagg (Paterno redacted) Championship Trophy.

Big 10-4: B1G all about Wisconsin-Michigan State on Gameday Week 8

Saturday at 8pm starts the biggest Big Ten game of the season until December 3rd and the odd thing is we just may see Wisconsin and Michigan State playing for all the marbles in Indianapolis again for the B1G Championship.

Spartans! Expect to dine on lots of Montee Ball and Russell Wilson Saturday night (Icon SMI)

For now, my preview and also Vince invited to a deep-dive podcast on this game alone so be on the  lookout.

In the meantime this week is just a teaser in what will be the start of National Title buzz in Wisconsin or a demand for respect from Michigan State.  Sure, there are other games in the Big Ten this week but we all know the focus is on this game.  The Big Ten title won’t be won in this game but this game will certainly have a lot of folks talking about what they expect to see in December.
First, Let’s look at the other games that will also help determine who gets to play for the title and will help your fantasy squad – don’t overlook all these on your way to East Lansing.
What is Big Ten football without a trophy game?  I think they call it the Big XII now…

Total ACCess Week 9 review: Didn’t you used to be Miami?

Monday, November 1st, 2010

This past week in the ACC, we saw some Good (Montel Harris, Russell Wilson, Maryland defense), some Bad (FSU’s mistakes, TJ Yates performance), and some Ugly….REALLY UGLY (Jacory Harris and Clemson).

Maryland Terrapins LB Nick Petterson (45) blocks a punt, and he is Superman, and he knows what's happening (Icon REM)

Today, we will only discuss the GOOD because let’s be honest, that is the only thing people really care about when it comes to Fantasy-related performances anyways.

I bring positivity along with my perfect prediction of the FSU-NC State game…

2009 ACC ALL-FANTASY TEAM

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

RussellWilsonAnyone who saw the season-opening game between South Carolina and North Carolina State would have never thought a Wolfpack player would be named the top fantasy player in the ACC.

Obviously, one game does not a season make….and NC State QB Russell Wilson got the Wolfpack offense firing quite well as the season progressed….enough for Wilson (photo, thanks CollegeFootballFanatics)  to be named our 2009 Fantasy College Blitz – ACC Fantasy Player of the Year.

Wilson, a sophomore from Richmond, VA (Collegiate HS), threw for nearly 2800 yards and 27 TDs for the Wolfpack…and rushed for nearly 300 yards and 4 rushing TDs (all stats quoted are through November 21st games).   In 2008, Wilson, as a freshman, was on the ACC-All Fantasy team as the top fantasy QB in the conference.

Joining Wilson on the 2009 ACC All-Fantasy Team are…. Read the rest of this entry →
