Big 10-4 Review: Spartans continue fake punt attack, conference takes to air

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

Week 8 is in the books and the Big Ten still has one undefeated team, three teams ranked in the top eleven in the BCS rankings and two head coaches knocking on the century win club door.  Indiana’s Bill Lynch (99 wins) and Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz (98) should both reach the century mark in the next few weeks.

Boom goes the stiffarm! Ohio State RB Dan Herron has scored in seven straight (Icon SMI)

Have you noticed the passing accuracy in the Big Ten this season?  According to the Big Ten web site, four quarterbacks could appear among the top 10 most accurate passing seasons in conference history.  So the Big Ten Network needs to just start updating their film vault now because 2010 is the best season ever in the Big Ten.  With five weeks to go they should be able to get plenty of footage to add to the archives.  Anyway, top performers in week 8 include the following:

  • Kirk Cousins, QB, Michigan State:  331 passing yards, 3 passing TD
  • Daniel Herron, RB, Ohio State:  75 rushing yards, 2 rushing TD, 14 receiving yards
  • Adam Weber, QB, Minnesota:  299 passing yards, 3 passing TD Read the rest of this entry →

FROM THE SHOTGUN…WEEK EIGHT QB START/SIT

Monday, October 18th, 2010

It is already the eighth week of the 2010 college football season, and many of you are prepping for the run to your league’s fantasy playoffs…or finishing the final weeks of a lame season.

Still, everyone prefers to win…so you need a good QB.  Or, a seviceable one, if your top fantasy QB is off this week….and many top QBs are off on Week Eight.

This development means that some QBs who may not normally see regular action on fantasy teams are getting their shot at starting this week.  Others, like Texas A&M QB Jerrod Johnson, become one of the best plays of the week. Read the rest of this entry →

FROM THE SHOTGUN…WEEK SEVEN QB START/SIT

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

Each week, I try to select one QB who will break-out…a QB who either has a favorable opponent matchup, or, is just “due” to explode.

Even better…finding that one QB who may be capable to do both.

This week, Oklahoma QB Landry Jones (photo, thanks Scout.com), is the QB with a nice matchup who is due to really “explode”.

FROM THE SHOTGUN…QB START/SIT WEEK FOUR

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

In this week’s edition of From The Shotgun, it is time to honor one of the great fantasy QBs of our generation:  Houston QB Case Keenum.

The senior QB had his college career cut short (barring a medical waiver should the NCAA grant one) in Houston’s 31-13 loss at UCLA this past weekend.  Keenum (photo, thanks Scout.com) tore the ACL in his right knee while attempting to tackle a Bruins defender after an interception. FROM THE SHOTGUN…WEEK TWO QB START/SIT

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Most of survived Week One intact (except your humble writer here…who seems to have caught the “My Fantasy Team Stunk Last Week” flu), and, Week Two looks pretty promising…for your quarterbacks.

For those of you who got lucky and picked Houston QB Case Keenum (photo, thanks sportsblognation.com), be prepared to be awarded this week. Read the rest of this entry →
