WEEK THIRTEEN TOP PERFORMERS

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

A mix of the usual suspects…and some newbies…make our top performers highlites this week.

One of the best performances was turned in by the always-consistent West Virginia QB Pat White (pictured, thanks IconSMI), who again put up a big day rushing…200 yards and 3 TDs to be exact…while adding 2 TD passes.

White’s rushing totals yesterday put him ahead of former Missouri QB Brad Smith as the NCAA’s all-time leading rusher among QBs…with still 3 games (including bowl game) to go.  White has a chance to put that record a bit out of reach.

There were a few others that enjoyed a similar big day like White. Read the rest of this entry →

NFTM: Big 10, Pac 10 and SEC

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Part Two of this week NFTM and turning to the Big Ten, Pac-10, and SEC, we scramble about like squirrels preparing for the winter to uncover the news that the Indiana Hoosiers look to be healthy on offense for the first time in a long time heading into this weekend’s game against Purdue, hope along with Tyrell Sutton that the Northwestern tailback is healthy enough to return to a post-season ball game, find tight end Rob Gronkowski of Arizona capturing all sorts of records thanks to last week’s fire-fight in Eugene, argue with Bobby Petrino over which Dick brother will play in Arkansas’ last game of the year, and determine which player Steve Spurrier claims is going to be cause for an early retirement.

NFTM: ACC, Big 12 and Big East

Friday, November 21st, 2008

It’s rivalry week here at Fantasy College Blitz, and as we each vivaciously don the colors of our respective alma maters (all the while, trying to ruin those of our opposing co-writers with coffee, ink, or whatever is within reach of our laptops and newspapers), Notes From The Margin takes a moment to review what’s happening both on and off the field the BCS conference programs heading into a big weekend.

Just a quick gander reveals the emergence of a new offensive weapon at Boston College in Montel Harris, the alleged “shock” felt by Florida State’s Bert Reed in being suspended from last weekend’s game against B.C., a big catch on the recruiting trail at tailback for the Virginia Cavaliers heading into 2009, Austen Arnaud‘s attempt to surpass the great Seneca Wallace at Iowa State, a slew of injuries to the offensive side of the ball at the University of Kansas, a former Notre Dame Fighting Irish player under center at Cincinnati, and the next generation of ball carrier at the University of Connecticut.

Going Deep: Dance with the WR who brung ya

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Sherman's Scorched EarthFirst off, best wishes to all of you as you progress through the playoffs in your leagues. I would like to think that Fantasy College Blitz is your General Sherman of college football knowledge leading many in a scorched earth policy through the southern portion of the fantasy college football landscape.

Speaking of Southern references, I am a big proponent of the concept that this time of year is like the annual cotillion after the harvest. Or your own personal homecoming dance. Just don’t overthink your selection of mates, you dance with the girl that has always been by your side. Hence, start your best players regardless of matchup since they got you to this point..

So you know your permastarters (minus the “three strikes and you are out” SMU duo) so our focus this week will be some WR3 type players. TO THE MATCHUPS!
