2009 ACC ALL-FANTASY TEAM

December 22nd, 2009 by Daniel Freer

RussellWilsonAnyone who saw the season-opening game between South Carolina and North Carolina State would have never thought a Wolfpack player would be named the top fantasy player in the ACC.

Obviously, one game does not a season make….and NC State QB Russell Wilson got the Wolfpack offense firing quite well as the season progressed….enough for Wilson (photo, thanks CollegeFootballFanatics)  to be named our 2009 Fantasy College Blitz – ACC Fantasy Player of the Year.

Wilson, a sophomore from Richmond, VA (Collegiate HS), threw for nearly 2800 yards and 27 TDs for the Wolfpack…and rushed for nearly 300 yards and 4 rushing TDs (all stats quoted are through November 21st games).   In 2008, Wilson, as a freshman, was on the ACC-All Fantasy team as the top fantasy QB in the conference.

Joining Wilson on the 2009 ACC All-Fantasy Team are….

Note:  All stats quoted are through November 21st games

———————————————-

QUARTERBACK

Russell Wilson – NC State: When you factor in his running ability, Wilson could be the all-time total offense leader for NCSU, passing Phillip Rivers for that honor….and Wilson has two seasons left.

C.J. Spiller – Clemson: Spiller led the Tigers to the ACC Championship Game….rushed for almost 900 yards and 7 TDs…had over 400 yards receiving and 4 TDs….threw a TD pass…and set the NCAA record for most kickoff returns in a career.   Spiller also finished 6th in Heisman voting.

Ryan Williams – Virginia Tech: Ran wild on the ACC with 1355 yards and 15 TDs, while totaling nearly 200 yards and another TD receiving.

Jonathan Dwyer – Georgia Tech: The 2008 ACC Fantasy Player ofJonathanDwyer the Year had another fine season for the ACC Champs….Dwyer (photo, right, thanks IconSMI) rushed for over 1200 yards and  scored 11 rushing TDs in 2009.

Jacoby Ford – Clemson: Ford totalled over 600 yards receiving and 5 TD catches for the Tigers…with 2 TDs rushing.

Torrey Smith – Maryland: A bright spot on a struggling Terrapin team, Smith had nearly 800 yards receiving, 4 TD receptions, and another TD rushing.
