Pre Game Comment: Tremendously difficult game to predict since Temple has more talent and a knack for losing close games, while UB has been very inconsistent this year without Starks and breaking in their new QB. Give the nod to the Bulls since they seem to have the Owls number.
Post Game Thoughts: This year it was Buffalo making the mistakes and Temple capitalizing as the Owls beat the Bulls for the first time in their four-year MAC history and for the first time overall since 1970. Elijah Joseph returned an interception 95 yards for a touchdown and James Dixon scored on a 92-yard kickoff return for the Owls. UB had more total offense (380-293) but UB had five turnovers. Temple’s Bernard Pierce rushed for 116-yards while UB’s Zach Maynard passed for 281. Read the rest of this entry →
Injuries…they stink to high purgatory…and, unfortunately, are part of the game of football.
On Saturday night in Lexington, Kentucky, the college football world watched Florida QB TimTebow (photo, thanks IconSMI) take a nasty hit on the back of his head when he hit a teammate’s leg while being sacked by a Wildcat defender. A few minutes later, the college football world learned what Superman had been eating for the last 24 hours, as he hurled a few times while being carted to a waiting ambulance for transport to a hospital.
As gruesome as this all sounds, it looks like Tebow will be OK, and should be ready to play in two weeks when the Gators visit Death Valley to play LSU. He should be over the effects of the concussion he suffered at Kentucky.
Meanwhile, another top QB was not as fortunate.
Baylor sophomore phenom Robert Griffin suffered a season-ending ACL injury during the Bears trouncing of Northwestern State (LA). Although Griffin saw more action in the game after the injury took place, an MRI exposed an ACL tear, putting the dual-threat QB out of action for the rest of 2009. College football, especially the fantasy element, will miss Griffin….and all wish him a speedy recovery and a return in 2010. Read the rest of this entry →
While our Big East expert Vince Mullins visits places that sound too tropical for cold-weather folks to hear….Fantasy College Blitz has brought in their Fly-Over Country correspondent, Daniel Freer, to handle the Big East this week. Yes, Daniel knows the difference between a grain elevator and a skyscraper.
With Week Five bringing in more Big East conference action, Week Four was a week that saw the conference schools post a respectable 5-2 vs non-conference foes…even more respectable considering four of those games were on the road…including the impressive South Florida 17-7 win at FloridaState…engineered by Bulls frosh QB B.J. Daniels (photo, thanksTampaBay.com)…who made the Seminoles regret letting the local Tallahassee product take his college game 200 miles south to Tampa.
Maybe he was playing with the Twelfth Man all game long….
Or…maybe he just needed ten men…
However which way he did it, Texas A&M QB Jerrod Johnson, our FantasyCollege Blitz Fantasy Player of the Week, sicced Reveille all over UAB in the Aggies 56-19 win over the Blazers in College Station on Saturday night.
Johnson, a big (6ft 6in) junior from Humble, Texas, plowed all over UAB…throwing for 240 yards and 3 TDs, while rushing for 61 yards and another 3 rushing TDs…and overshadowed our FCB Fantasy Player of the Week for Week One, UAB Blazers QB Joe Webb.

Florida QB Tim Tebow, on the ground after taking a big hit in Q3 vs. Kentucky.
Unless you live under a rock, you know that Florida QB Tim Tebow was knocked out of Florida’s 41-7 victory against Kentucky after a hard shot to the head in the third quarter, and taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Currently it’s unknown how this hit will affect his status for the Gators’ matchup against LSU in two weeks. Nor is it clear how it will affect the battle for the Heisman Trophy.
