Baylor kicked off the weekend for the conference in style, with Robert Griffin III throwing for 359 yards and 5 TDs, topped off with 33 yards rushing and 15 yards receiving. His main target was Kendall Wright, who hauled in 189 yards and 2 TDs in addition to throwing for 55 yards and 1 TD. Yes, just when TCU appeared to stop Griffin-to-Wright on Baylor’s final drive, on a key third down Wright completed a 15 yard pass to Griffin. Rounding off the offensive explosion, Terrance Ganaway ran for 120 yards and 1 TD while Terrance Williams caught 6 passes for 126 yards and 2 TDs.
Missouri looked even worse than I expected against the Miami Redhawks, and I had low expectations going in. With 129 yards passing, 1 TD, 66 yards rushing, and another TD on the ground, QB James Franklin might have been worth starting – maybe – depending on how your league rewards rushing yards vs passing yards. Nobody else on this team was worth looking at, not a good sign in an opening game against a MAC school.
This week for Missouri: After bogging down against Miami (OH), I can’t see the Tigers getting much done on the road against a ranked Arizona State team that is among the most experienced in the country. Better look for other options if you’re holding Tiger players on your roster. Read the rest of this entry →
