Big 10-4: B1G all about Wisconsin-Michigan State on Gameday Week 8

Friday, October 21st, 2011

Saturday at 8pm starts the biggest Big Ten game of the season until December 3rd and the odd thing is we just may see Wisconsin and Michigan State playing for all the marbles in Indianapolis again for the B1G Championship.

For now, my preview and also Vince invited to a deep-dive podcast on this game alone so be on the  lookout.

In the meantime this week is just a teaser in what will be the start of National Title buzz in Wisconsin or a demand for respect from Michigan State.  Sure, there are other games in the Big Ten this week but we all know the focus is on this game.  The Big Ten title won’t be won in this game but this game will certainly have a lot of folks talking about what they expect to see in December.
First, Let’s look at the other games that will also help determine who gets to play for the title and will help your fantasy squad – don’t overlook all these on your way to East Lansing.
What is Big Ten football without a trophy game?  I think they call it the Big XII now…

Scout’s Honor: What I am watching for Week One 2011

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

First let us identify your goal of week one for fantasy college football – if one fails to plan, one plans to fail.
  • Identify game-changing free agents that can catapult you up the power rankings.
  • Make sure your guys perform, even if in limited duty – start your best guys and worry less about trying to figure out if they only play a half.
  • Enjoy yourself, enjoy your beverage, enjoy your friends and family
Now that you have embraced the plan, here are the main things I will focus on among all the games of Week One of the college football season.

Average Draft Position (ADP) from all U-Sports drafts, Aug 25 edition

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

Our long standing relationship with U-Sports.com goes back to when Fantasy College Blitz started in 2005 – I remember talking with founder Nathan Karp about the copyright issues of using college football player names and his defense of those nasty NCAA “cease and desist” letters inspired me to gather up the gang to get this site going.

Names and stats reside in the public domain, silly rabbit…

In 2011 we bring back Average Draft Position (ADP) data from all of their drafts this pre-season, and while there is a Automatic Qualifying conference bias the table below can be quite informative to gauge draft sentiment.

I have to say I am surprised that Denard Robinson is the consensus #1. Full breakdown after the jump.

2011 Pac 12 Fantasy “Others”

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

TE David Paulson is ready to be a #1 fantasy TE (Icon SMI)

Fantasy “Others” are the positions on your roster that get very little love or attention.  Its your Tight Ends, Kickers and Defense/Special Teams.  Basically, these are usually my last three picks in the draft. However, not everyone likes to sit back and wait so here’s the best of what the Pac 12 has to offer.

Tier 1 Tight Ends – Guys Worth Drafting Sooner

David Paulson, Oregon – With the dependable Jeff Maehl having moved onto the NFL, Paulson stands to be a primary target in the Ducks passing attack.  RB LaMichael James will do the bulk of the scoring but we expect Paulson to be around 600 yards and 8 TDs.  There is risk with this pick, as discussed by Drew who selected Paulson in the FCFI Expert League. 2011 Pac 12 Fantasy WRs

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

WR Juron Criner looks to shake off defenses as the #1 WR in the Pac 12 (Icon SMI)

Tier 1 – Top Options

Juron Criner, ArizonaWe expect Criner to be a tick above the next three names on the list.  All of them should tally 1,100+ yards through the air.  However, Criner will get more endzone targets and should collect about 13 TDs.  Draft him first from the Pac 12 WRs and he’s worthy of being a top starter for your overall team.
