QB UPDATE 08/25/08
August 25th, 2008 by Daniel Freer
Oregon QB Justin Roper (pictured, thanks IconSMI) may have almost lost his head on this play, but he moves ahead (no pun intended) of Nathan Costa on the Ducks depth chart (at least for the opener Saturday vs Washington).
Roper, who had a brilliant performance in last season’s Sun Bowl game, gets the call to start Saturday as Costa is still struggling with a knee injury.
Other QB news to note:
SAN JOSE STATE:
After some good showings in recent scrimmages, Myles Eden will be the starter on opening day when the Spartans face UC-Davis. The Spartan QB situation was hard to predict, as Cal transfer Kyle Reed, along with Sean Flynn and Jordan LaSecla, in the mix. Eden could be a good free-agent/supplemental pick-up as SJSU has a fine WR corps led by Kevin Jurovich and David Richmond – and, they play in the WAC.
