Saturday Morning College Football Breakfast Burrito, Week 6

October 10th, 2009 by Vince Mullins

Wrapping up the finest ingredients to get you ready for your fantasy college football Saturday.

mmmm...burrito

mmmm...burrito

Suggested Breakfast – Eggs are always appropriate but can get a bit tired if you do not shake it up with different preparations. Check out this Chorizo con Huevos recipe (you can substitute andouille if you really want to kick up the spice). DO NOT FEAR EGGS – lots of studies call eggs a superfood despite the yolk=cholesterol myth.

WEATHER

No worries here, weather across the nation looks solid for all the Top 25 teams. For a reminder that it is fall (In Florida we just just don’t know what these seasons you talk about are), wind chill of 10F at the USAFA in Colorado Springs as the Falcons host the Horned Frogs. I know who would win this one in nature but TCU is favored.

Winds could be an issue east of the Mississippi – but I do not think this is lineup altering (consider this advice your college football briefing).

This Week in Fantasy College Football Prognostication

Daniel Freer surveys the field From the Shotgun, already called for a elite performance by Colin Kaepernick and now urges caution for Ryan Mallet owners.

Drew Smith lines up eight yards back in the Power-I and has his own permastarters (including the eponymous RB Darius Marshall of Marshall). John Clay needs the cardio work but Drew says to sit him this week.

I went deep late last night, I gave you sleeper Lavon Brazill of Ohio as a great play at Akron. PS – Ohio looks like a great D/ST add for the remaining MAC schedule.

CFFI’s Jim McDonald thinks Bo Levi Mitchell is a start, contrary to Daniel – I smell a bet! Jim agreed with me on sitting McCluster at wideout.

Phil Steele finally upgraded his blog and it looks and reads TEN TIME BETTER – congrats to the Book of Phil.

INJURIES

The number of top ten players missing significant time has been daunting. Dr. Carroll brought the A-game for this week’s Triage Time breaking down the big injuries. Get up and dance to the Running Men.

Dr. Carroll may want to get to Hattiesburg, MS for a big athlete lab experiment. Let me add on DeAndre Brown, the Southern Miss man child is sorta back from the broken leg, then missed last week due to a shoulder injury. Questionable for this week, plus very solid QB Austin Davis is gone for the season so the Golden Eagles start junior Martevious Young. Louisville defense resembles a sieve, so normally a great start – given all the weak variables take full advantage of the 730p start time to make sure he is a play. Keep Dwayne Harris of ECU on the radar screen as a possible late replacemant, or one of the other decent late starts (UNLV Payne or Anthony, DeMaryuius Thomas of GT, Delashaun Dean of Arizona)

and our friends at CFFI put it best - Tebow update #421 is he will “definitely play”… I worked at Channel 6 when they had former Duke and Orlando Predator QB Ben Bennet as the weekend sports guy. I hope their research staff and commitment to excellence have increased since then.

Finally, if you need to stay updated on the happenings in the Mid-American Conference you should know there is no better source than our Nick Gerogosian from VandelaySports.com. So many potential roster adjustments and new names in his reports you are really missing out if you are not reading Nick’s Picks.

I will likely do some snarky twittering today, then I am off to Oklahoma tomorrow, gonna catch Boise at Tulsa, plus the Oklahoma State Cowboys homecoming against Missouri on Saturday. Also, finally got Jason Collette of FanBall teed up for a podcast on Monday. He thinks I should go try out wideout for the Cowboys then I reminded him I am out of eligibility since 1995. Mullins out!
