SUN BELT CONFERENCE 2008 ALL-FANTASY TEAM
December 5th, 2008 by Daniel Freer
When you join people like Tony Dorsett, Ron Dayne, and other great college RBs on an exclusive “NCAA all-time career” list…you know for sure you are a very good football player.
Louisiana-Lafayette RB Tyrell Fenroy (photo, thanks IconSMI), our Fantasy College Blitz: Sun Belt Conference Fantasy Player of the Year….earlier this season joined Dorsett, Dayne, and company in that exclusive group: Rushing for over 1000 yards in all four eligible seasons. Fenroy became the seventh player to accomplish that feat.
And the senior from LaPlace, LA (St. Charles Catholic HS) had his most productive season in 2008, rushing for nearly 1300 yards and 17 TDs (through November 22nd games) for the Ragin’ Cajuns…who had one of the most productive rushing attacks in the nation. Fenroy also was a good receiver…231 yards receiving…on a team that does not pass much.
Joining Fenroy on the Sun Belt All-Fantasy Team are:
(Note: All stats quoted are through the November 22nd games)
QUARTERBACK:
KINSMON LANCASTER – Louisiana-Monroe: The dual-threat QB threw for over 2000 yards and 18 TDs, while rushing for 539 yards and 4 TDs.
RUNNING BACKS:
TYRELL FENROY – Louisiana-Lafayette: (see above)
D’JUAN HARRIS – Troy: Led the likely-SBC champs with nearly 1000 yards rushing and 9 TDs, and also caught 3 TD passes.
PHILLIP TANNER – Middle Tennessee: Although he rushed for just over 600 yards, he scored 14 TDs for the Blue Raiders in 2008.
RECEIVERS:
JASON CHERY – Louisiana-Lafayette: Parlayed two huge games this season into becoming the top fantasy receiver in the SBC, scored 6 TDs receiving, 3 TDs rushing, and 2 TDs on returns.
T.Y. HILTON – Florida International: The true-frosh led a resurgent Golden Panther squad with 870 receiving yards and 5 TDs
CASEY FITZGERALD – North Texas: Broke the 1000-yard receiving barrier for the second straight season in the Mean Green’s “Dodge Ball” offense.
KICKER:
SAM GLUSMAN – Troy: Scored 93 points for the Trojans, arguably the most successful football program in the SBC.
DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS:
TROY - Except for the fourth-quarter meltdown at LSU, this defense played well all season, and was one of the best nationally in QB sacks.
