QB Tyrod Taylor will put up great numbers in VTEchs' win tomorrow (Icon SMI)
To quote the great award-winning actor, Sir Mathew David McConaughey, “Alright, alright, alright, it’s week nine in the ACC and it’s anybody’s division.” Alright, so he didn’t really say that, he was never knighted, and I think the only award that he ever won was a Razzie, but my point was made none-the-less. This week, we see an all ACC lineup, so there won’t be any non-conference teams looking to play spoiler.
Georgia Tech @ Virginia Tech: Ahhh, the ACC playing on Thursday night. Again. It’s like the Twilight Zone or something. This is a battle for the lead in the Atlantic Division and a battle of rushing QBs and underachieving defenses. My prediction: Virginia Tech 34 – Georgia Tech 21. Tyrod Taylor was on fire in the games leading up to the bye week. I look for him to continue looking hot, sticky, sweet from his head down to his feet. Yeah, I went there. Taylor will throw for 125 yards, 2 TDs and rush for 100 and 1 TD. Ryan Williams is supposed to be back this game, but I think he gets eased into action, so watch for Darren Evans and David Wilson to form a three-headed monster. They will combine for 120 yards on the ground and 2 TDs, but your guess is as good as mine as to who gets the carries that count. Any of the three is eligible to bust loose on any given play. Joshua Nesbitt will lead the Yellow Jackets in rushing with 160 yards on the ground and 2 TDs. Anthony Allen will finish the game with 60 yards and a score. Read the rest of this entry →
This past week in the ACC, we saw some Good (Montel Harris, Russell Wilson, Maryland defense), some Bad (FSU’s mistakes, TJ Yates performance), and some Ugly….REALLY UGLY (Jacory Harris and Clemson).

Today, we will only discuss the GOOD because let’s be honest, that is the only thing people really care about when it comes to Fantasy-related performances anyways.
I bring positivity along with my perfect prediction of the FSU-NC State game…
This week in the ACC we’ll see the Coastal Division fight it out for top of the class and bottom of the food chain. Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech both have byes this week while UNC and Duke face out of conference foes. This week will go a long way in determining who wins the Coastal Division, so rest assured, there is a lot riding on it.

FSU @ NC State
Florida State enters into hostile territory in Carter Finley Stadium on Thursday night. This will be the fourth time in a row where the Noles have travelled to NC State for a Thursday night game. Both teams are coming off of a much needed bye week. FSU was able to recoup and get healthy after a tough game versus Boston College while the Wolfpack was able to lick their wounds after a tough loss to rival East Carolina. My prediction: NC State 28 – FSU 24.
FSU has consistently played some of their worst games on Thursday night. NC State has consistently played the Noles closer and tougher than any other Coastal division team. Florida State has not faced a passing attack like this since their drubbing to Oklahoma earlier in the year.
Christian Ponder will pass for 240 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT. Jermaine Thomas will rush for 65 yards and 1 TD. Russell Wilson will throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs and 2 INT. Owen Spencer and Jarvis Williams will both haul in a score. Read the rest of this entry →
Some big games remain for some strong November finishes, but we may have a seen a glimpse of who the contenders and the pretenders are in the ACC.

The Miami versus UNC game was the headliner for the ACC show. UNC, still dealing with suspensions, struggled to get anything going offensively and then lost their starting CBs to injury, leaving them with inexperienced freshman to man the outside.
Miami’s receivers took advantage.
Coming into the game, Miami’s receivers, running backs and tight ends had combined for over 30 drops. Against UNC’s inexperienced secondary, three different receivers caught touchdown passes and at least six different players had at least two catches. Read the rest of this entry →
Don't bank on RB Johnny White for receptions each week. (Icon SMI)
Much Ado About Nothing: The ACC in week 6. That is the title I give to the ACC’s performance this week. There were some impressive wins and even a few uncharacteristic stats, and the general media is trying to make something out of nothing. Sure FSU waxed Miami, in Miami. Sure NC State rebounded nicely against a terrible Boston College team. Sure Virginia Tech looks like they may be on the road to recovery after a terrible start to the season. But what does this mean for you from a fantasy perspective? Nothing.
What I chalk this past weekend up to is fluke, one week blow ups that we probably won’t see again this season. Oh, so you want examples. Okay, here are a few. FSU Jermain Thomas putting up 3 touchdowns; 2 rushing and 1 receiving. Thomas will rush for more TDs, but he won’t score 3 in one game again this season. His receiving TD came off of a screen pass. Here’s a stat for you: The last time that FSU ran a screen pass to a RB was over 19 games ago. Needless to say, I wouldn’t count on that happening again. Care for another stat? How about UNC RB Johnny White catching 6 balls for 90 yards. The last time that a RB had more yards receiving than any WR was almost 3 years ago. Yeah, don’t count on that happening again for a while. Read the rest of this entry →
