In past seasons, I would have been very hesitant to advise starting Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick against a BCS-level program. Nevada’s Pistol offense matches up well against its WAC foes, but, usually struggles against deeper teams from BCS-level conferences. This season, the Wolf Pack appear to have its most athletic team since moving up to the WAC just a decade ago… Read the rest of this entry →

Boise QB Kellen Moore makes the first national splash on the national Heisman debate. Sweet uni's too. (IconSMI)
Kellen Moore’s last minute drive on Monday night not only toppled the Virginia Tech Hokies, it turned the race for the 2010 Heisman Trophy upside down as well.
The Boise State quarterback’s come-from-behind heroics catapulted him into first place in the latest edition of the Heismanpundit.com Heisman Poll released on Wednesday (Sept. 8). Moore tallied 31 total points and received 8 first-place votes from the 13-member panel of Heisman voters, improving upon his third-place standing in the preseason edition of the poll. The junior threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns against Virginia Tech, moving his career record as a starting quarterback to 27-1.

The eyes of fantasy players always seem to light up a little bit more when the Western AthleticConference is mentioned…it means “a lot of offense” in Fantasy-Speak.
And, for 2010, it could mean even more offense than in past years, as Boise State and Nevada return a good part of their offense from last season. Also, some coaching changes around the league may upgrade some of the WAC’s weaker offenses.
You can be assured that fantasy players and leagues around the land will be jockeying to draft WAC talent like Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick (photo, thanks Scout.com) very early on… Read the rest of this entry →
FIESTA BOWL: Boise State vs TCU; Janaury 4, 2010; University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, AZ; 8PM Eastern; FOX
The first BCS Bowl Game, with two oppponents not members of BCS automatic-qualifying conferences, should be a classic confrontation between the most dominant non-BCS programs of the decade…..the Boise State Broncos and the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs (TCU).
Both Boise State and TCU contain very productive offenses, and, tough slobber-knocking defenses. Although the two schools may not belong to the more affluent BCS conferences….the 2010 Fiesta Bowl will be one of the best bowl games to close out the 2009 season…. Read the rest of this entry →
