Pac Ten for Week Eleven: Preview and Projections

Ladies and gentlemen, your USC Trojan Defense (Icon SMI)

Quick refresher on who has the worst Pass-D in the Pac-10 and one of the handful worst in the nation.

Noooo, not Washington State. Here’s a hint: the school is on probation and their name rhymes with blojans.

ARIZONA vs USC

QB Nick Foles should have a field day and could go for as much as 450 with 3 TDs. More than 3 scores might be pushing as the Wildcats still like to pound it in short-yardage situations. Read the rest of this entry →

CAL @ OREGON STATE

Shane Vereen

Cal's Shane Vereen eyes a huge game against Oregon State in Week 9 (Icon SMI)

In a showdown of fantasy 1st round draft picks, RB Shane Vereen might not have as good a day as Quizz, but he still should do pretty well. 120-170 yards is realistic and could chip in another 40-60 yards receiving and should end up with at least 2 scores.

QB Kevin Riley has been a bit erratic this season, but against a bunch of soft Beavers he should flirt with 300 total yards and should end up with 2 scores. Read the rest of this entry →

Oregon (#1, er #2…so confused…) vs UCLA

The forecast is cold and rain which is not great conditions for a healthy passing game.  Of course, the Bruin air attack is far from healthy. Starting QB Kevin Prince is likely a no-go tonight, so backup Richard Brehaut will get the call, but is not worth a fatnasy roster spot. For that matter, bench any Bruin RBs you may have picked up along the way as it will be tough sledding for any 1-dimentional offense vs the Quack Attack. If you’re stuck, RB#1 Johnathan Franklin is the best bet to crack 100 yards but K Kai Forbath may very well end up being the top UCLA scorer. And although it may be rainy, the winds should be calm. QB Nick Foles will have to answer if he doesn't deliver Saturday (Icon SMI)

ARIZONA WILDCATS

THE PASSING GAME:  Washington State. ‘nuf said. QB Nick Foles should shred the Cougs, and could throw for about 450 with 4 TDs.

WR1 Juron Criner should see around 10 catches for about 170 & should score at least once. There will be plenty of aerial action, and WR2 David Douglas and speedster WR3 Bug Wright should each see around 5 catches for about 70 & each is a good bet to score Read the rest of this entry →

Surfing the Pac 10: Luck vs. Duck

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Luck has everything to do with #12 being the talk of the Pac 10 (Icon SMI)

#9 Stanford (4-0) @ #4 Oregon (4-0)

This is a huge game. It is a shame to have it so early in the season as both these teams could be 11-0 were they to meet in the finale. Everyone knows about Oregon, but Stanford is a complete team and potentially just as good.

Stanford: You have to assume RBBC until proven otherwise.  However, RB Stephan Taylor was impressive last week getting all the carries, so if you are going to start a Stanford RB he would be the only option. QB Luck can play the up-tempo Duck style so he should have a good week.  He will likely continue to spread the ball around, so no startable pass-catchers, but if you insist WR Owusu is the best bet to score.
