It is time for the NFL, Coach Urban Meyer.

Dear Coach Meyer,
Congratulations on your second National Championship in the past three years as once again you clearly out-coached your opponent to win a game that most would say you were out-matched in. But this has been your trade-mark going back to your days at Utah and Bowling Green hasn’t it been?
This got me thinking and I believe it is time for you to take your game to the next level…the NFL. No doubt you leaving the comforts of Gainesville and going to the NFL will be viewed by the masses as a huge mistake. I have to ask the question – would it really be a mistake?
Why would it be a mistake? Is it because people don’t think you are good enough to coach in the NFL? No one is going to actually admit this but this is exactly the case. They are thinking Nick Saban, Bobby Petrino, Steve Spurrier, Butch Davis, Dennis Erickson, Mike Riley and even the great Lou Holtz all failed in their attempt to make the jump why does Urban Meyer think he is any better?
These are the same people that said your gimmicky offense would never work in the SEC, these are the same people that would have told you to not go to Utah because they haven’t won a conference title outright in 45 years and these are certainly the same people who would of said to stay at Notre Dame and not take over a Bowling Green lacking talent coming off a 2 win season.
If you look at it in a pure analytical sense of risks vs. rewards, what are the risks of jumping to the NFL now? Read the rest of this entry →
